I too need a time out

I am a mother of a 2 year old who is very precious to me and my husband. Every time she laughs we pray that she always smiles like this and we promise to ourselves quietly that we will do anything for her.
But I accept the fact that sometimes even I need a time out from all of this...baby and husband. I don't regret or feel bad being a house wife but sometimes I too feel the need to get out and be myself and what I was before marriage.
Therfore I have started going out to meet my friends again and enjoy a meal or so . It feels so nice to be back in time and for few hours I don't need to think how and what to feed my baby with. So go out moms and enjoy the time it's your life too. Kids will grow up eventually and out grow you too...then what you will do or engage yourself in. So keep yourself busy with various activities and socialising. My point is its good to be a 24 hour mother but live sometimes for yourself also. It not only helps you to bond with your child more but also you feel less irritated if your child is not listening to you. It gives you a sense of holding back the anger as you had a good time with your friends  :) try it out!!!  But meet the people whom you really like :p
So if you felt the same do share and let me and other moms know how did you feel. And  it is good for you if you leave your child with your husband and go out with your friends. Let them also bond sometime :)
Happy mommying!!

chicco sterilizer

It is a big sterilizer for 6 bottles by chicço.it sterilises the bottles within 15 min. It has a very simple built and hence easy to manage. It has a small vapouriser at the bottom where sometimes calcium is deposited due to water evaporation and be cleaned easily

It also has a stand which doesn't let the bottle fall. But stand is not for fat bottles and one remove the stand easily incase one has a variety of bottles.

My take: 9/10
Easy to handle.I love the product  The only drawback is that you can't take it for travelling incase you have space crunch.

How to clean baby's tongue

To start with the oral hygiene for a baby is as important as for an adult. Luckily a baby doesn't have teeth :) but still we need to maintain their oral hygiene. You will see white deposits on the tongue which has to be cleaned. These are basically milk deposit due to milk suction in initial months.
For a new born - 6 month old infant : One needs to clean the baby's tongue. Take a small soft cloth (muslin or cotton ) wrap it around your finger and clean the tongue in an up and down motion. Make sure that you do it before you feed the baby or after a while after feeding the baby ( coz it can cause the baby to puke right after the feed).Make sure that you use a washed cloth every time you do it. You can clean  every alternate day.
6/8month and above : a small silicone finger fit brush are available to clean the gums and tongue. or you can continue to use cloth if your baby has not started biting :)
I had used mee mee finger brush. But the bristles are bit hard to clean with,  a baby's tongue. It is totally safe and can be given to the baby to clean her mouth on her own (but only under your supervision not even a care taker ).

1year and above: there are various brushes available in the market for toothbrush training, choose any as per your convenience ( cost and availability). Make sure you choose a good brand and a BPA free product.

Reshaping after pregnancy

A maternity belt I had used after the delivery, which was also recommended by the doc and mid-wives. I think this belt is required because the stomach skin becomes so flappy after the delivery that it is important to retain your shape. I dont preach that thin women are better or you should regain your original shape but in my opinion its always better to stay healthy look good [so that your husband does not look around ;) ].

How to use the maternity belt:- One has to put the belt before your meal and not while eating or right after the meal. You can use it while sleeping or sitting . Incase of CS....Use after your stitches have been cut.

I used Farlin, its nice, soft and easy to handle.

Chicco Body Lotion for Baby Review

I like this lotion. My baby has dry skin and this lotion has helped her to overcome it(atleast for few hours). This has a very nice fragrance but a bit stronger than MotherCare creams. This big bottle has a useful dispenser which allows you to close the nob as well and does not let the cream get spilled. Overall a good product.

My take: 9/10
Age: 0+
Cost: Higher (than pigeon or MeeMee)
Use: daily body lotion

Burp it up!!

All the parents and babies have an important task after feeding: BURP. One has to make sure the baby burps right after the feed. It helps the baby to sleep better and the baby also feels better/lighter. Parents need to help the baby in burping as she/he cant sit uptil 5-6months. How to make sure the baby burps :-
  • You as a Mother/Father should uphold the child such that the baby’s body is supported by you and the head can rest on your shoulder. In initial months your baby’s neck does not support her/his head so your hand(palm) should help her by holding the neck from behind but very delicately at the same time. The other hand should support the rest of the body. Baby burps quite quickly if you hold her properly.
  • I strongly believe what you eat when you are exclusively breastfeeding does reflect in your milk and hence in baby's digestion. In fact the poops color also changes.Try eating spinach and checkout your LO's poop that day J it will change. So eat healthy and light food in the first month after delivery , it not only help you but also the baby to digest the milk. Avoid food like nuts, red and black beans etc.
The baby should not lie down immediately after taking the feed even if she/he has slept while taking the feed. But instead take her gently and uphold her with her head resting on your shoulder and wait till she/he burps or for 10-15minutes before you lie her/him down on the bed again.

Pigeon Feeding Bottle Review

Pigeon bottles are sleek and they are easy to handle and wash. Its very simply built and very handy while travelling as it doesn't take much space. One can get different size and cut in teats for suitable age group. It also has a small bump on the teat which help as anti-colic.

My take: 8/10
Availability : Good
Age: starts from 0+month
Use: For milk
Cost: Cheap (worth every penny)
Best part of this is it gets into a baby bag without taking much space and I can carry another toy(for my baby) instead of a fat bottle.

What to eat during pregnancy? - PartII

Ok so we are talking of you eating healthy for yourself and “not eating for two”. Make sure you eat well and adding calories to your diet does not mean eating junk. If you think for your unborn baby’s health I am sure you will eat better and good food. Whatever you eat a part of it goes to your little one. So please eat good and healthy food. BUT counting your calories and keeping a track of #whatToEat” doesn’t mean you go on a diet or eat less than what you normally eat. Eat healthy, good and enjoy it! :)

Protein: You need to eat loads of them and till the 9month.Your body requires proteins in good amount to help the foetus grow. So make sure that at least two of your meals has proteins to give you right amount. If you are not much into proteins then try some snacks rich in proteins like soya chunks, roasted black Bengal gram etc.
Food for proteins:-
Egg
Fish
Milk
Soya
Bengal gram
Cottage cheese/Cheese

Carbs: The building block as one says or the main source of energy for your body to function well. Eat healthy like Whole wheat, Rice and avoid refined form (White flour/Maida). Never leave them, you always need them and eat them well.

Folate: You have to take folic acid as prenatal and post natal medicines.

DHA: This helps in baby’s brain and eye development. Its present mostly in nuts, olive oil and one can take DHA fortified food as well.

Iron and Vitamin C: You need Iron during and even after delivery till you are breast feeding the baby. The sufficient amount of iron ensures your haemoglobin mark as per the requirement as in ensures a healthy baby as well.
For VitaminC Indian gooseberry or any tangy fruit(oranges/sweet lime) will suffice your vitamin requirement. It is one of the important vitamin which helps you in absorption of iron and also improves your immunity.
Food for Vitamin C:-
Grapefruit
Kiwi
Mango
Tomato
Lemon

Food for Iron:-
All green leafy vegetable.
Spinach
Dry Fruits
Beans and Peas

Calcium and Vitamin D: For baby to grow in the right way with healthy bones one needs to have Calcium. If there is insufficient amount of calcium intake, your baby draws it from his/her mothers stored calcium. So one should take calcium tabs(especially for vegetarians) during pregnancy and throughout your breast feeding time. For Calcium absorption VitaminD is a must. So one can take Vit.D fortified Calcium tabs. Else Great source of VitaminD is SUN.
Food for calcium:-
Almonds
All dairy products(Milk, buttermilk, yogurt, cheese)
Tofu

Water: Fluids are important part of pregnancy. And most important of all is water. Even if you cant control or need to go to loo on the middle of the night one needs to drink water/ Coconut water to stay hydrated and to prevent constipation which a lot of ladies face during pregnancy.

P.S. :- Make sure your weight should not increase more than 11-12 kg till ninth month(full term)  and consult a doctor if there is a sudden increase in weight. Please DON'T DIET

Chicco Insulated Cup Review

This is a sipper with a well built mechanism for opening and as well as for the liquid suction. It opens quite smoothly and infact my daughter(at 1.5yrs) loved opening and drinking water on her own from it. The flow of the liquid can be regulated by a small band inside the cup, it helps moms to keep a check on the amount of water her baby is going to suck. As in the flow of the liquid can be increased by removing the band or decreased by placing the band on the hole.

Its an insulated cup but don't expect it to keep the hot water like a thermos.
It comes in two nice and bright colors. The only drawback is that it sometimes leak if the pieces inside the cup are not fitted well.

My take: 8/10
Age: If your baby can suck  from the sipper(while sitting)
Cost: Higher
Use: mainly for water

Chicco Natural Feeding Bottle

I like this bottle, from teat to bottle size everything is good. The teat is super soft and the big enough to make the baby feel that she is sucking the natural way. Bottle width / circumference is good and thus the baby can hold the bottle as well. The one of the drawback I faced was the print of the milk volume on the bottle. It gets easily brushed off while washing the bottle, so everytime I wash i make sure not to use bottle brush to clean the outer surface. Else its a great product.

My take: 8/10
Availability: Good
Cost: Higher
Age: Starts from 0m+
One needs to close the bottle cap properly(teat should be vertical) else it might leak if the bottle is tilted.

Nuby Nibbler Review

A great thing for the babies of age 6month+ as they usually dont have teeth by now and moms need to start baby's food other than the breastmilk. So i 'd really liked this idea of a nibbler as i could give my baby a certain fruits to suck on without any tension as the net is there to prevent choking. But with the Nuby nibbler one thing was a let down:-" it's handle". Its too heavy for 6m+ old baby to hold for very long or to gorge on the food while holding it . So everytime i had to hold it for the baby . But the best part was it helped me to give my baby the fruit she loves: Oranges :)

My take: 7/10
Availability: Good
Price: Not expensive (its worth it)
Age: Babies without teeth :) mostly 6m+
Use: for fruits

Food for baby after 6months

Yes finally you will be free from breastfeeding the baby everytime she/he is hungry as your doc will allow you to start you LO's food( mainly purees and liquids to start with). But then dear mom thinking about what to give to your child or cook for your child is the one of the BIG task. Yes you will have to cook sometime too and initially your Lo might not even like the taste...but that doesnt stop you from cooking with LOOOVE for your baby and experiment. So enjoy it and if the baby does not like it give that food a break and try again after 2 weeks or so.

Baby's requirement after 6m+
1. Iron
2. Vitamin C
3. Vitamin D

These three are not present in your breast milk or any formula milk(unless fortified). So its recommended to start one food at a time for the baby to include anyone of these three vit.

Things to be given as a puree(in soup or juice form)

  • Oranges
  • Beetroot soup or juice
  • Lentil soup
  • Sweetlime
  • Semolina in milk
  • Yogurt
  • Rice soup
  • Tomato soup
  • Spinach Soup (few babies might like it)

You can add salt/sugar/butter or ghee as per the taste and requirement once the baby starts liking and digesting the food.

PS: Anything new you introduce to the baby's diet , make sure you give that food to the baby for 5-6days before starting another new food . As the baby's delicate stomach needs to handle a foreign/new food give it sometime to understand and digest(getting used to it) before starting anything new.

MeeMee Bottle Review

This bottle is one of the most ergonomically(practical) made for the babies. It has a handle which generally babies like to hold and a straw with heavy ball which hold its down or up(if the bottle is tilted). My baby loved it once she started sucking from the bottle. This bottle is meant for babies 6month+ as by then baby knows how to sit own her own and drink the fluid from the bottle. My kiddo loves to drink soup or juice from this.

My take: 8/10
Cost: Economic
Age: 6months+
Use: for juice and soups
Availability: not available in most of the shops

MotherCare Baby lotion

I love #MotherCare, all its products…almost all. I have tried very few creams/baby lotion for my baby. I have come to one conclusion that is, this one is not for the babies who have dry skin. I loved the fragrance but it just doesn’t moisturises the dry skin (especially legs which are mostly exposed as my daughter wear frocks).

My take: 8/10
Skin type: Normal to Oily (not for dry skin)
Fragrance: Very mild and best for the baby

Availability: Good
Its perfectly safe for the baby :)

BreastMilk- My way to make it meaningful

I guess what really increases the milk supply other than the food like wheat and cumin is your baby's demand. The more your baby sucks the more your body produces milk.
But one thing I am sure of is that your food(eating habits after delivery) does affect the baby in being colic, non colic and full stomach.

To make your milk more meaningful for the baby(I mean to include nutrition)try my recipe  I drank this every night till I breastfed my lil one.
-> Heat the milk and add two teaspoon of semolina and sugar according to your taste. Bring it to boil. Drink it (as per your taste or liking be it hot or cold) every night and see your baby will sleep better for a longer time as the baby’s stomach is full
Full tummy = sleepy and happy baby :)
Try this!! If it works for you do tell me/comment on this page.

Breastfeeding/ Breast milk

Things you need to know about breast feeding:-
The very first time a very few mothers are able to breastfeed the baby as the mother does not know how to handle the baby and the baby does not know how to latch up properly. Its OK. Slowly by second or third time baby does get to know and mother also starts producing milk after the repeated suction. The first few supplies of milk is watery or yellow in color, is called Colostrum. It is the most important thing your child needs once they are born. It is full of nutrition and consists of everything your baby needs to fight the basic human diseases. TRY to make sure your baby is given your milk first rather than a formula milk until unless you are not able to produce milk if no then relax and enjoy with your baby.

  1. The more you feed your baby the more milk supply will be produced by your body
  2. A lot of times baby feeding pattern changes, so if your baby is not drinking you might feel your breast getting heavy and hardened. Don’t worry! You should massage your breast (clockwise or anticlockwise) to reduce lumps/heaviness in milk filled breast. This happens only when the milk supply is more and demand is less.
  3. Expressed Breast Milk (EBM) – means you take out milk manually or with the help of a machine. You can express milk which can be given to the baby immediately or later(yes it can stored too).
  4. Yes! Your eating does affect the baby, proof is the baby’s poop. Eg. Have any green vegetable like spinach and the very day or next day your lil one will poop green (you can smile if you have seen one). So do not eat very heavy/ gassy food in the first three months.
  5. You do not need to drink milk to increase your milk supply. Certain food does increase the milk supply like Fenugreek, cumins, oats or porridge etc.

Happy Mommying!

To cut nails of a new born

In the first three months nails of a baby are very  very soft so it can be broken very gently with your finger tip.Right after you give your baby a bath try to cut nails as they are very soft due to water. Or you can use baby nails cutting scissors. Or let the mother nature work its way, they will break on its own but they tend to be sharp from the edges.

Initially I was afraid to cut my baby's soft and (oh sooo) tiny nails but my sister scolded me "if you as a mother cant do it then who else will do". Ok so that did make me cut her nails.
I used Farlin Baby scissors.

My Take:-9/10
It has a big enough lower part for easy handling. Tiny scissors blade  appropriate for the baby nail size. It really helped me to overcome my nail cutting fear.

BEST TIME to cut nails are when the baby is sleeping.

How can I make my baby sleep at night?

Are you deprived of sleep due to your new born?  SO here is what you can do to sleep better.

Baby’s sleeping pattern keeps on changing. As 0-3months would be different from 3-6months and 6-9months and so on. It actually becomes a pattern when she/he is 9month+.

0-3months:- Initially baby will take the feed(if breastfeeding)  after every 2-3hours and will go off to sleep immediately. The new born wakes up for few hours only. So try and sleep with the baby as much as you can because this first month recovery is very important for the mother. So ask your husband (on leave from office, right?)  or mother or maid to help you with daily chores. If no then let your husband sleep with the baby in the day time so that he can handle the baby with you at night well.

3-6months :- Now you will see a big change in the baby. Baby wakes up for a longer duration, starts moving her hands/feet more and also has much stable neck and tries to focus her/his eyes. So the playtime with the baby begins from now on.  By now the mother and the father both are generally settled and know how to handle the baby well.

Baby pees or poops quite frequently in early stages. Make sure your baby is not wearing the diaper at the day time and therefore the baby will not sleep much during the daytime. And then you will have a good long night sleep( 8-10hr which includes your breastfeeding)
Things to do :-
1.  Put a quick dry sheet under the baby while she is lying on the bed/sleeping. (it prevents from soiling your bed)
2.  Make the baby wear soft cotton nappy instead of diaper.
3.  Play with the baby during the daytime.(sing to her, laugh or just talk silly things like all mums do)
4.  Always switch off your lights for night sleep, slowly it becomes the habit and soothing for both mother and child.
5.  Play some soft baby musical lullaby(various toys available) before the baby dozes off.
6.  If you have started one or two bottle feed then try and give the baby a bottle feed at night right before she and you sleep. This makes the baby sleep more as the stomach is full for a longer duration(formula milk) than breastmilk

6month + : dear mom now knows it all :)

Sleep well dear mom!!

What to eat during pregnancy?

This should be taken very seriously. As your diet does affect the growth of your baby.

  1. Carbohydrates: The basic building block for our body. They are the main source of energy. When we consume any carbs, they are converted into sugar to provide the energy to our cells for our proper functioning. They are present in:-
    1. Wheat (Bread, Roti)
    2. Potato
    3. Cereals
    4. Corn
    5. Banana

  1. Vitamin and Minerals: They are the essential nutrients which our body requires in small quantity for the right functioning. Like its recommended to have Vitamin C( present in orange) before having iron tablet as this vitamin helps in absorbing iron. Your diet should include all the seasonal fruits and vegetables.

  1. Protein/Dairy: Your body requires protein to ensure the right and steady growth of your foetus. This has to be included in your diet during the 9-month span. The food which are have high protein content are:-
    1. All the dairy products:- Milk, Cottage cheese, yogurt
    2. Legumes :- peas, beans, lentils
    3. Egg
    4. Meat
    5. Fish
    6. Nuts
  2. Fats and Sugar: Do indulge in to your favourite food or your cravings during pregnancy but make sure this section is not a substitute for your important meals. So have them sparingly.

How to celebrate Breastfeeding Week

BREASTFEEDING WEEK (1-7AUG)

All new moms and moms-to-be lets do it!!! This is week is celebrated not to make you feel guilty if you are not breastfeeding but to promote some natural norms that our nature has given us.

So moms who breastfeed it’s the best thing you can give your baby for the first six months. But moms who have a fulltime job and cant leave or carry the baby along, try and give your baby EBM(expressed breast milk). Yes you can express the milk (a night before also) when the baby is not taking your feed and store it in a clean container and give the baby later on(when you are not around).

There are numerous moms who are not able to breastfeed because of insufficient supply or their baby prefers formula milk, for them I would say, Its OK, you are your baby’s mom “you know the best”. It’s alright if you are not able to breastfeed, several mother are not but then make sure your little one is taking other meals to suffice the nutrients required.

So I request all those mothers who are at home or shopping and are not breastfeeding your baby, Stop and think and read the following article.

Giving formula milk is not bad or doing any harm to your baby but if you are free or can breastfeed your baby, then do it. Try and take leave from your office for those first six months when your baby needs you the most, and give her/him your milk only. Ask those mothers who are not able to produce milk or don’t have sufficient supply, it’s a terrible feeling. So I say if you can, enjoy the time and breastfeed your baby.

Happy mommying

Can I have coffee in Pregnancy ?

 Please Avoid!!
I have spoken to gynaecologist from new age to the ones who have been practising for 30 years, everybody has a different opinion. New ones strictly asks you to avoid coffee as there have been various studies which shows that whatever you eat a small portion of it goes to the child. It goes through the placenta which attaches your baby to you. But old ones (doctors to homemakers) claim that they had tea/coffee in pregnancy and we (their kids) are normal. So what is the solution??

Lets avoid this coffee!!!!! We are basically avoiding coffee because it has caffeine. Caffeine is not harmful , it has medicinal uses also but not during pregnancy. So lets try and avoid all the products which has caffeine like :-
  1. Coffee
  2. Tea
  3. Chocolate
  4. Coke (as well)  :O

Yes I am asking to you avoid (not stop all together) caffeine as much as you can until you have craving for these. So even if you are fulfilling your cravings (in pregnancy) which is okay but do it in moderation. Think for the baby’s health and your motherly heart will help you to overcome these cravings.

Following could be better alternatives :-

No-no in pregnancy
Better options to switch to (try n avoid them too )
Espresso shot
 LATTE
Coke
Fresh juice/ Lemonade
Tea
Green Tea
Dark Chocolate
White Chocolate

Try and you can succeed dear mommy-to-be.

Dry Tummy Skin/ Avoid Stretch Marks

Another small problem or one can say another body change during pregnancy is stretch marks. But they can be avoided to a large extend if you take proper care of your skin in those 9 months.

Stretch marks are caused due to :-
  1. Genetic (Ask you mum if she has them)
  2. Dry skin
So reason “a” in unavoidable but can be taken care of and reason “b” has to be taken care of, which means do something for your skin. J

Body Parts where stretch marks are more visible :-
a.       Stomach
b.      Thighs
c.       Upper Arm
d.      Butts/Hips

So things to do( How to avoid stretch marks) :-
 1. Use a good amount of oil after every bath on your affected body parts (without fail). Oil which can be used are:-

Oil name
Expensive
Availability
Smelly
Skin type
Coconut
No
Easily
No
Dry to Normal
Almond
Yes
Easily
Yes
Dry
Baby
Yes
Easily
Has fragrance
Any
Olive
Yes
Easily
Yes
Dry to Normal

 2. DO NOT SCRATCH your tummy. Instead whenever you feel like scratching put oil or creams to avoid them.
 3. Drink loads of hydrating drinks like WATER, Coconut water, ginger ale.
 4. Avoid all aerated drinks, tea and coffee.

Are Stretch mark creams useful?
If you do not believe in natural way of curing then go for these creams. They are good but how do they affect you in long term, I have not come across any study. So use them after asking your gynaecologist only.

Clothes in Pregnancy

Due to ever changing size of clothes in Pregnancy one has the liberty to shop J and I am sure all girls or rather mom-to-be will love it.
First three months your weight does not increase much or the tummy is not visible at all. But after third month you need to seriously buy new and comfortable clothes. The worst nightmare for me was what to buy and which size.
So following are some tips what to buy in pregnancy.

1 BRA: yes we can discuss this. Your chest size increases with the weight gained so make sure you buy some SPORTS BRA. Yes the ones we used to wear in our teenage times. They are very comfortable during these days and would not let your boobs sag. #WhichBraInPregnancy . No wired bra please.

2. What to wear: Anything COTTON is the best clothing during summers. As you need to make sure you are comfortable and your skin is not itchy. In winters have a good layer of clothes but again the innermost should be cotton.

 3. Jeans: You get a lot of maternity jeans which has a stretchable band for the tummy area and denims for the legs. They are comfortable and easily available.

Don’t try to get into your old clothes, buy and enjoy your pregnancy and shopping. You will need to buy almost after every 2 months(after first trimester). So buy in limit because the newly bought tees might be tight after a month.

How to avoid nausea in Preganancy

During pregnancy a lot of girls feel nauseated or do not feel like eating at all in the first trimester but it  decreases when 4th month starts. So here are few tips to overcome it:-
  1. Walk everyday only uptil your body allows , never strain your body, It should be done with ease.
  2. You can have curd with rock salt with your meals or before it. (the best/tried/it works)
  3. Drink small portions of ginger ale , if it suits you.
  4.  Apple with or with out salt, 15minutes, before your meals.
  5. Mix a few seeds of carom with a spoon of rock salt. Have a very less portion of it in small intervals. Some might find the taste of carom peculiar or strong, so have it with caution ( Both the ingredients help in digestion)
  6. Have a good helping of Vanilla Ice-cream

Take care mommy-to-be!!

Before pregnancy- II (Planning a baby)

If you are planning to have a baby,

  1. Start having Iron tablet and folic acid. (especially for vegetarians)(consult your doctor too)
  2. Exercise/Yoga or atleast walk. It is very important that you be active.A healthy lifestyle leads to a healthy baby.
  3. Eat all the veggies now. Avoid sea food because sometimes they have metals which are not required in the body or for the baby.Basically take a good and rich but healthy diet.
  4. Vitamin E(increases the chance) helps too. (consult your doc)
  5. Be happy and read good books.
  6. Listen to good music. You can even listen to Hindu chants and karmic music.
  7. Most important is to be HAPPY!!

All the above tips are to make yourself healthy and happy so that the new member of the family is welcomed by you and your husband.
Always consult your doctor before starting any medicine.

New born baby diaper

Here is the review of the diapers I have used for my baby since birth.

Trust me your baby will not have any issue/ diaper rash even you use the diaper since birth. Infact if you are alone(no one to help) don’t worry you can use the diapers for the baby but only wisely and you can take a good nap, so that you don’t need to change the sheets or nappy every time your little one pees.
Relax and enjoy your motherhood too…

So my view on Pampers New born: 6/10
Money wise: not very costly
Absorption: quality has significantly dropped (it leaks sometimes)
Size: Ok
The size is large and a bit wider too. I recommend this for a baby boy who needs a bit bigger diaper than girls I guess.

My view on Huggies New born: 7/10
Money wise: not costly
Absorption: good
Size: Ok
Its sleeker so recommend this for a baby girl.

My view on Libero New born: 9/10
Money wise: costlier than above two
Absorption: good
Size: Good
I love these ones. Very soft and comfortable for the babies.

IF NOT ABLE TO CONCEIVE

i am sure you must have read a lot but here is a small advice. i am not an expert but this is the knowledge i had gained after eating many gynaecologist’s head and through various books and I hope following might help you.

you need to know when exactly you are ovulating(egg in your uterus). there is a 48hr window when you are most prone to conceive, that is when some action(serious ones) is needed the most ;)

Are your menstrual cycle are exactly for  28days? if yes then you know the ovulating days 12-14th day from the day your period begins.
if no, then you need to know the ovulating days.

Step1: buy an ovulation strip kit: it helps you to know those "2days" when some
action is required.

If those strip doesn't help you,

Step2:  get a follicle study done. Dont worry its sounds a big thing but its
nothing but to help you to know about your eggs position (those 2day) by an
ultrasound, just like any other ultrasound.

Some basic tips given by my gynea you can try to increase your chances:
1. do not get up right after having an intercourse. WAIT!!
2. you should keep your feet, high up, rested on the bed  in such a manner that you make an angle, with your upper part of the body on the bed(bums on a pillow) and your feet up.
3. please avoid raw papaya, pineapple (old wives tale)
4. decrease your caffine intake present in drinks like tea, coke, coffee.
5. take some prenatal medication recommended: folic acid(a must), iron (if required),
ask doc  if u need it
6. vitamin E helps in conceiving, ask doc if u need it
7. take a break from work, even if it  is not very stressful, go on an vacation for those 2-3 days n enjoy to the fullest...be happy and make love ;)

all the best n take care and always consult with your doctor.

No Diaper Rash

this is a tried and tested and your baby will not have any diaper rash.Following steps will help you to not buy those expensive #DiaperRashCream

1. After baby's bath or poopy always wipe and dry the genital area with a soft dry cloth.
2. Apply coconut oil(or a baby oil) on the outer area only. It basically provides layer to prevent the skin to touch the wet diaper until cleaned. (Coconut oil is not expensive and easily available). Avoid those costly diaper rash cream(chemicals)
3. then make the baby wear the diaper.

Note:
---- please change the diaper after every 5-7 hours depending on the baby's skin sensitivity.
---- Make sure whenever the baby poops clean it immediately and replace with the new diaper
---- do not reuse the diaper even if not a single drop of urine was there.

Before Pregnancy

If you are planning to have a baby there are certain things one should be sure of.
A baby changes everything in your life from your eating habits to your partying and even your vacations   will depend on them. So be sure that your partner is also ready to have a baby. So plan, plan, plan!!!
Ask a certain questions to yourself :-
  1. Are both the partners interested in having a baby?
  2. Am I healthy enough to raise a baby?
  3. Do we have enough money/facilities to be able to feed the baby and fulfil his basic requirements?
  4. Are we ready to spend some sleepless nights?
  5. Am I ready to leave my job or take a sabbatical?

If YES then we are ready to move forward.
There are various websites and books from which one can understand pregnancy better. Books like “what to expect” is a great book on pregnancy and now they a website( www.whattoexpect.com) and an app based on it which gives you weekly updates too. Its pretty handy.
Another website which really helped me was www.babycenter.com.
Go ahead read and register into these, they have plenty of info which is so true that you will relate and understand pregnancy better. It in fact all the knowledge makes the journey easier.

lets get started!

So finally after a 21months to be precise i would like to  share my experience and some insights I have gained since pregnancy uptil today( my baby girl Samaira is 21months now).
I am an engineer by profession but after marriage my life took a u-turn and I became  a housewife(trying to teach French to school students and make e-books). So this blog came up coz there are many sites to give details to new to-be-mothers but not small advices.
I hope through this I can help a few ladies/moms by telling some home remedies, some good practices etc for those nine months and years of joy to come.
