Chicco Natural Feeding Bottle

I like this bottle, from teat to bottle size everything is good. The teat is super soft and the big enough to make the baby feel that she is sucking the natural way. Bottle width / circumference is good and thus the baby can hold the bottle as well. The one of the drawback I faced was the print of the milk volume on the bottle. It gets easily brushed off while washing the bottle, so everytime I wash i make sure not to use bottle brush to clean the outer surface. Else its a great product.

My take: 8/10
Availability: Good
Cost: Higher
Age: Starts from 0m+
One needs to close the bottle cap properly(teat should be vertical) else it might leak if the bottle is tilted.

Nuby Nibbler Review

A great thing for the babies of age 6month+ as they usually dont have teeth by now and moms need to start baby's food other than the breastmilk. So i 'd really liked this idea of a nibbler as i could give my baby a certain fruits to suck on without any tension as the net is there to prevent choking. But with the Nuby nibbler one thing was a let down:-" it's handle". Its too heavy for 6m+ old baby to hold for very long or to gorge on the food while holding it . So everytime i had to hold it for the baby . But the best part was it helped me to give my baby the fruit she loves: Oranges :)

My take: 7/10
Availability: Good
Price: Not expensive (its worth it)
Age: Babies without teeth :) mostly 6m+
Use: for fruits

Food for baby after 6months

Yes finally you will be free from breastfeeding the baby everytime she/he is hungry as your doc will allow you to start you LO's food( mainly purees and liquids to start with). But then dear mom thinking about what to give to your child or cook for your child is the one of the BIG task. Yes you will have to cook sometime too and initially your Lo might not even like the taste...but that doesnt stop you from cooking with LOOOVE for your baby and experiment. So enjoy it and if the baby does not like it give that food a break and try again after 2 weeks or so.

Baby's requirement after 6m+
1. Iron
2. Vitamin C
3. Vitamin D

These three are not present in your breast milk or any formula milk(unless fortified). So its recommended to start one food at a time for the baby to include anyone of these three vit.

Things to be given as a puree(in soup or juice form)

  • Oranges
  • Beetroot soup or juice
  • Lentil soup
  • Sweetlime
  • Semolina in milk
  • Yogurt
  • Rice soup
  • Tomato soup
  • Spinach Soup (few babies might like it)

You can add salt/sugar/butter or ghee as per the taste and requirement once the baby starts liking and digesting the food.

PS: Anything new you introduce to the baby's diet , make sure you give that food to the baby for 5-6days before starting another new food . As the baby's delicate stomach needs to handle a foreign/new food give it sometime to understand and digest(getting used to it) before starting anything new.

MeeMee Bottle Review

This bottle is one of the most ergonomically(practical) made for the babies. It has a handle which generally babies like to hold and a straw with heavy ball which hold its down or up(if the bottle is tilted). My baby loved it once she started sucking from the bottle. This bottle is meant for babies 6month+ as by then baby knows how to sit own her own and drink the fluid from the bottle. My kiddo loves to drink soup or juice from this.

My take: 8/10
Cost: Economic
Age: 6months+
Use: for juice and soups
Availability: not available in most of the shops

MotherCare Baby lotion

I love #MotherCare, all its products…almost all. I have tried very few creams/baby lotion for my baby. I have come to one conclusion that is, this one is not for the babies who have dry skin. I loved the fragrance but it just doesn’t moisturises the dry skin (especially legs which are mostly exposed as my daughter wear frocks).

My take: 8/10
Skin type: Normal to Oily (not for dry skin)
Fragrance: Very mild and best for the baby

Availability: Good
Its perfectly safe for the baby :)

BreastMilk- My way to make it meaningful

I guess what really increases the milk supply other than the food like wheat and cumin is your baby's demand. The more your baby sucks the more your body produces milk.
But one thing I am sure of is that your food(eating habits after delivery) does affect the baby in being colic, non colic and full stomach.

To make your milk more meaningful for the baby(I mean to include nutrition)try my recipe  I drank this every night till I breastfed my lil one.
-> Heat the milk and add two teaspoon of semolina and sugar according to your taste. Bring it to boil. Drink it (as per your taste or liking be it hot or cold) every night and see your baby will sleep better for a longer time as the baby’s stomach is full
Full tummy = sleepy and happy baby :)
Try this!! If it works for you do tell me/comment on this page.

Breastfeeding/ Breast milk

Things you need to know about breast feeding:-
The very first time a very few mothers are able to breastfeed the baby as the mother does not know how to handle the baby and the baby does not know how to latch up properly. Its OK. Slowly by second or third time baby does get to know and mother also starts producing milk after the repeated suction. The first few supplies of milk is watery or yellow in color, is called Colostrum. It is the most important thing your child needs once they are born. It is full of nutrition and consists of everything your baby needs to fight the basic human diseases. TRY to make sure your baby is given your milk first rather than a formula milk until unless you are not able to produce milk if no then relax and enjoy with your baby.

  1. The more you feed your baby the more milk supply will be produced by your body
  2. A lot of times baby feeding pattern changes, so if your baby is not drinking you might feel your breast getting heavy and hardened. Don’t worry! You should massage your breast (clockwise or anticlockwise) to reduce lumps/heaviness in milk filled breast. This happens only when the milk supply is more and demand is less.
  3. Expressed Breast Milk (EBM) – means you take out milk manually or with the help of a machine. You can express milk which can be given to the baby immediately or later(yes it can stored too).
  4. Yes! Your eating does affect the baby, proof is the baby’s poop. Eg. Have any green vegetable like spinach and the very day or next day your lil one will poop green (you can smile if you have seen one). So do not eat very heavy/ gassy food in the first three months.
  5. You do not need to drink milk to increase your milk supply. Certain food does increase the milk supply like Fenugreek, cumins, oats or porridge etc.

Happy Mommying!

To cut nails of a new born

In the first three months nails of a baby are very  very soft so it can be broken very gently with your finger tip.Right after you give your baby a bath try to cut nails as they are very soft due to water. Or you can use baby nails cutting scissors. Or let the mother nature work its way, they will break on its own but they tend to be sharp from the edges.

Initially I was afraid to cut my baby's soft and (oh sooo) tiny nails but my sister scolded me "if you as a mother cant do it then who else will do". Ok so that did make me cut her nails.
I used Farlin Baby scissors.

My Take:-9/10
It has a big enough lower part for easy handling. Tiny scissors blade  appropriate for the baby nail size. It really helped me to overcome my nail cutting fear.

BEST TIME to cut nails are when the baby is sleeping.

happy Mommying!!
